Homestead Crater or just "The Crater", is near Heber City Utah. It has beautiful clear, warm (90 degrees) water. About 40 feet across and 60 feet deep. The down side is the elevation 6200 feet and the fact that the return trip back into Salt Lake City goes over an 8,000 foot pass. So... if your in the water very long, you don't want to be in a hurry going home. This is a popular place to dive and a great place to learn/practice skills during the winter months. (They do limit what you wear to keep residual laundry detergent out of that beautiful water.) See you there.Originally posted by mtdivegirl
If i dont do my check out dives in august I will have to do them later, sept or dec. You are right...diving around here would be damn chilly but according to my somewhat reliable LDS they will be offering check out dives during those months down in salt lake at crater of the moon lake or some such place that only allows bathing suits, no wetsuits, because they want to keep it "pure" whatever that means.
So if any of you have dived it..let me know what its like
