I think it was the charger going bad. I tried a set of older batteries and a set of newer and it didn't charge right. I guess I'll have to invest in a good charger one of these days. I'm just glad I wasn't on a trip and needed the thing to work.

Battery chargers can REALLY make a huge difference in the performance of the batteries, and how long they last as well. It's worth it to spend a bit more and get a good charger. Some chargers do NOT fully charge the batteries. Others overcharge or overheat the batteries. Both problems can result in lower battery life, and frustration.

When I did my research years back, I bought the MAHA C204F. It's been a great charger, but has been replaced by the C401FS. Here is a review.

Steve also really likes the la crosse Bc-900 charger. Both can be purchased at Thomas Distributing. I have used them in the past, and they are good.

Like with Scuba Gear, it's often best to spend a bit more, and purchase once!
