This thing is the shizz... plain and simple. Works flawlessly... similar to a Vyper but many many more features and improvements.

I don't know anyone who actually uses three gasses but at least I can use two.... I picked mine up for $700 with the transmitter from a friend who lives in Canada.... pretty sweet deal

No problems with loosing signal... I LOVE THIS THING....

Any specific questions??? Feel Free To Ask...

So have you put bungee cord on it yet? :D

Seriously, I was looking at a Vyper and now the Vytec has come out. Just in time for a Nitrox course. How intuitive was the SPG functionality? Easy to read? Worth paying the extra and getting the transmitter for?

I like the idea of the three gases - if I get as far as Advanced Nitrox, EAN32, EAN50 and EAN100 spring to mind (although I think it only goes to EAN99 on the Vytec - is that the case?).

;) no... no bungee cord. But that's a different story..

It's a pretty simple system in my opinion. There is a demo on the vytec website that will run you through the operation of the unit. The tank pressure is always displayed in the lower left corner (one second intervals) there is a "remaining air time" as well, however it is basically a "remaining air time at this exact breathing rate at this exact depth meter"

Nonetheless I like it.

As far as three gasses, I've never known anyone to use three gasses on one dive. I know quite a few who use two, but whatever, the thing can do three should the need/want ever arise.

And even cooler is the fact that you can set the exact O2% in increments of 1% AND the PO2 in increments of "0.1" AND BEST OF ALL when you set the %'s it gives you the maximum depth for that mix.... PRETTY SWEET (and uhhh ya it only goes to 99.... ya I know "but ours go to eleven!!!" )

Anyhow, I don't know what they think they are going to charge here in the States for the thing , but for seven bills it was worth every penny.

I'm looking at Simply Scuba - it's about $667 after VAT is deducted, before shipping. So about $700 I suppose. Makes the one on eBay for $950 without the transmitter look like a joke.

What happens if your buddy has one as well? Do the signals get mixed? If the transmitter is available seperately, how does the Vytec know which transmitter to listen to?

Ya, some poor guy got hosed on one of those that was on ebay. If you can get it for $700, go for it.... heck the LDS's around here sell the Cobra for more than that.

This will make much more sense when you get it... but basically when you turn the Vytec on, it goes through a little routine to set the "code".

It goes into a "LOW" receive mode at first so that it must be held right next to the sending uit until they "pair" up (one second) then it goes into "NORMAL" receive mode and you are ready to dive.

Switching the sending unit's "code" should two happen to pick the same code is easy as turning your air off and then back on and holding your wrist by the sending uit.

You'll love it.....

Dan's dive shop in St. catharines Ontario has them for $799. CANADIAN dollars w/o transmitter And yes they are sweet!!
