I am interested in getting trained as an instructor (OW). I am a certified NAUI divemaster, though I am not active in the dive industry. I would like to get an idea of the cost involved in taking a Instructor Training Course, perhaps NAUI. Books included.

Thanks,

Garv

Guess not many NAUI advisors on here. Have you tried google?

It all depends on your location I'm a NAUI IT the course it self is about 1500 to 1700 and then there is the cost of the books since you are a NAUI Divemaster you can order the books your self through NAUI's Web site. If I was you, i would use the NAUI locator tool and find a CD in your area. Most important is that you find an IT and CD that you can work with and in the area you want to teach in. If you want any more information you can IM me
Good Luck

My class cost $1200 with the ITC book but you will have to put in a lot of time as I had to learn to run a shop as well as learning to teach. And their is a lot of little things you will buy like the libary of book's that will run you $1600 or better and your insurence is around $500. But like narcedoutscuba said locations differ use your NAUI web site and find a good shop to teach in.

Since you're a NAUI DM you've already done a lot of the program. I would expect to be able to get the remaining requirements done for a bit less that the prices I'm seeing suggested, more on the order of a grand.

I am also a NAUI CD costs for an ITC run from about $1000-$2000 depending on location and any extras the course includes. Since you have done the NAUI DM you may have many of the required books already. ITCs can be done locally or there are many places (like Okinawa) you can travel to and take the course. Course costs are not decided by NAUI but by the local instructor. You can locate a CD off the NAUI website.

May I suggest that you very carefully consider your future diving education.

Since you are somewhere in OC you might want to consider the Los Angeles Co Underwater Instruction Certification program, the famed UICC, conducted anually begining in January for 12 weeks, at the end of the program you will have the option of also becoming a NAUI instructor.

The cost is around $750.00

It is not an easy course..LA Co Instructor certification can not be bought as in other organizations.
