Howdy,

My buddy and I headed out early this morning to spend the day diving at Portage. I live over in Pointes on the east side of Detroit. With the construction on 75 we have been driving over to Southfield Rd. then taking that down to 75. A little out of our way but not that big of a deal. Today we could not get on at Southfield, Dix, Northline or Eureka. MDot has closed 75 all the way down to Gibraltor area. So, getting to the Ohio quarries have officially become a giant pain. Combined with insane gas prices (because two people fit so well in a little hybrid) I wonder what the impact will be on folks from this area heading south to dive? At the end of the year I wonder what the financial impact will be on the three quarries (Portage, Whitestar, and Gilboa). We had a great time at Portage but there were not that many folks there.

. And my wedding is a week away with folks coming from the north and south. What a pain![/QUOTE]

Wow a perfect out. Did you plan the construction? Run Forest Run:rofl3:

Its not just up north. I drive Dayton to Cincinnati and often into KY several times a week for work and it has become a nightmare to the south as well. In July I will be driving 75 all the way to the north a few times and am severely dreading it.

The complete closure downriver caught me off guard yesterday coming home from work. I had heard nothing about it until I discovered that my normal route home was closed. However, I-75 north and south was open downriver tonight, at least from Telegraph to West Rd.

A perfect solution...take a dive vacation until construction is over....

White star has seemed to be a bit more quite on the weekends I have been there so far, however some of it may still be water temps. I haven't hit Portage yet this year.

I head up to NW Ohio quite often from Cincy. I took Hwy 127 a couple of weeks ago and it was a very relaxing and trouble free drive... aside from slowing down in the small towns.
