Public Presentation on how New Hyperbaric Chamber Makes Diving Safer in Thunder Bay

A presentation at the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center at 7:00pm Saturday, August 18 will highlight the benefits to divers from the
installation of a new hyperbaric chamber at the Alpena Regional Medical Center. Dr. Bob Bartlett will speak on hyperbaric medicine and its
implications for recreational and technical divers in the Center's theater Saturday evening. Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary and the
Alpena Regional Medical Center have made it a priority to bring a hyperbaric chamber to the ARMC. Dr. Bartlett leads the field in
hyperbaric medicine, which has many health and treatment applications beyond the treatment of diving related injuries. So come learn more
about this valuable addition to the community.

Congrats on the new addition!

That is great news. Any idea when they will actually have the chamber there?

I probally can tell you with more certainty after Saturday. I had heard that they were slated to put in two chambers this Fall/Winter but until I saw an official announcement I was in a wait and see mode.

Just talked to someone who knows more than I and we are supposed to eventually get 4 chambers. Two this fall and the others latter on.

According to information at the SAC meeting last night it looks like mid November will be the start-up date for the chamber(s). Glad to have them here, hope to never see one from the inside looking out. :)
