Okay, total newbie question here.

I've never been spearfishing or hunting lobster but would like to attempt this sometime. I've heard there is a 'regular' and a 'mini-season' for hunting lobster, can someone tell me when those dates usually are?

Any special laws regarding hunting lobster in Texas? I understand that some places you can use a speargun with scuba, some you can't.. how far offshore you have to be etc?

Thanks in advance.

Oh.. anyone in Texas want to head down to the coast and give it a shot with me sometime?

D.

Lobsters like a reef, ledge or rocky type structure to make their homes in. Besides the NMFS I am not aware of any spiny's in Texas state waters. That also is why they probably are not addressed in any of the state laws.

Your question on mini-season probably refers to Florida regulations. For 2006 mini-season is July 26th and 27th. So you would have to travel to here to participate in it.

For more information on Spearfishing in Texas, you might try Hdryosports Scuba in Lake Jackson, or WW Diving both around the Houston area. You can find them on the web.
