Anyone know where I (really & truely) can get a 7' YELLOW hose for an Odin? I've tried DiveRITE & they said "Well, they may make one & they may not, we can request one, but that doesn't mean we'll get one"
Oy vey!

I did find some one to make me one @ A-1 in Pensacola, but it won't have the relief valve built into it like the Poseidon brand. I've been told that is only to purge system, instead of using the purge on the 2nd stage.

As I understand it, the relief valve is there to prevent a HP seat failure from overpressurizing the second stage and causing a burst hose or worse, since Poseidon seconds are upstream and fail closed (I believe that servo valve seconds, like the Odin, are technically upstream).

Mind you, this is just something that I read about and I have no personal experience with Poseidon regs.

Have a hunt around the online stores - I'll swear I've seen a Posiedon hose adapter for attaching the second stage to an ordinary hose fitting, but I'm not a Posiedon owner so I didn't take too much note.

I FINALLY got an answerr. I (afer searching for hours) got a # to call Viking & they told me that Poseidon has NEVER made a factory 7' tellow hose. They feel that it's something that shoudl be addressed however.

The place I found here in Florida, A-Plus Mairinehttp://www.aplusmarine.com/catalog/page43.html makes the hose, but it doesn't have the pressure relief valve. Kronos13 you were correct. The pressure relief is in case there is a failure, it will not over pressure & blow the hose or blow the servo in the second stage. They (Viking & Poseidon) WILL NOT reccomend or warranty if this is used.

Well, looks like a yellow wrapped black hose for me.

Thanks guys.

Just something to think about! You really dont want to be handing an out of air diver a Poseidon odin. Odin's if your not use to them are hard to clear. The purge buttons are a little harder to push then normal regs also. I think its an excellent reg but not one you want to hand off to some one who is out of air in panic mode, they might just end up with a lung full of water if they dont blow out hard enough. I've seen it happen.

I agree scubanarc. I "normally" don't dive w/anyone I don't know, and if I do, on the boat or shore they get a VERY what's what about Odins. The reg has to come out of my mouth w/my hand attatched so I can control the sit. as needed. They are actually very easy to clear, you just have to remember to tilt your head so the exhaust is pointing down. I can clear mine w/less than 1/2 of a breath. But you're right, if you don't explain it before hand, they may get into trouble.

And by the way. Not only did I see that happed, I was on the receiving end. My dive buddy, Peat Bogg on here, happened to slip his mind when we swapped @ about 90'. Oopps! :yelling: Lived to b**** about it though....so I can sympathize.
