Hey all:

I received 2 separate reports of dead Giant Humboldt Squid (Dosidicus gigas) washed up on So Cal beaches:

4 at Corona del Mar in OC, 2-3 feet long on Monday afternoon
# unknown at La Jolla Shores in San Diego, 4 feet long on Monday evening

More info will be provided as we get it. In the meantime, these squid should be considered potentially dangerous if encountered live in the water. Don't go touching them as they have sometimes nasty temperaments. Their large beaks and suction cups have been known to tear wetsuits and flesh. No kidding.

If you are curious to know more, a simple Google search will yield loads of information.
