There was an influx of Humboldt Squid, of all things, at La Jolla shores this past weekend. I was able to get some video, in TERRIBLE viz, so the quality is low. I made a quick short featuring footage from the squid dive plus an earlier dive the week before. Shot with a Light and Motion Bluefin pro housing and Sunray 2000 video lights, Sony XR520V camcorder. Again most of it was taken in terrible viz so the quality isnt good, but the subject was so unusual I thought it was worth putting something together.

Thanks for sharing Roger! That was great. I loved the way you tied the music into the video. I bet you would have S _ _ T in your wetsuit if you had looked up and one of those Giant Squid was coming at you with their tentacles all stretched out! :eyebrow:
 
Thanks for the comments. They were coming at us pretty much like that for 20 mins, but they seemed more curious than aggressive. They grabbed at my mask and back of my head mostly, that and the video lights. But they seemed to just hit and run for the most part, a few times they stopped and felt the thing they hit for a while, and one grabbed a video light head and really yanked hard for a couple of seconds before swimming off, but for the most part they seemed pretty composed and just curious. It wasn't a baited fishing situation like you see on TV. But they do come in fast and sometimes hit pretty hard.
 
Saw it on YouTube, Roger... glad my dives down there in two weeks will be during the day!

The video and Roger made national news. The funny part is that the opening was stock footage of an octopus.
