How's the 590 working out? Anyone have one & using it?

UW??.....Have a friend(nondiver) that has one for land use, seems to be similar results to the 570 so far.......TIA......

I purchased a A590 IS last week and took it into the water yesterday to test the Ikelite housing, just snorkeling. I'm really happy with what I'm seeing. The manual controls are great. I was able to set the camera get a deep blue color from the water even though I was on the surface.

Soon I will take it deeper and I'll know for sure but so far, so good.

I think that is a sleeper camera just like the 570, people pass it over because of it's clunky looks and inexpensive price. It shoots better than cameras with much better specs and many more dollars price. With a strobe and a WAL it will really begin to perform for you. No cover shots maybe, lol, but it will do good for you. It is a real shame the 590 will not drop in for a 570. It does not have the UW setting the 570 has either but it still has the custom white balance and that is a better choice anyways. Good luck with it. N

I just tried out the new A590, IKELITE housing with the INON UWL 100 last weekend, /Nemrod persuaded me to buy them/ with the Sunpak Gflash from my previous setup, with the CHDK to shoot raw files, and it works great! thanks Nemrod!!!

So far, so good. I took my new set-up (590, DS-51 and Inon UWL-100) to Hawaii last week. I'm a total newb to UW photography and pretty green when shooting outside of Auto and Program in general. I didn't get a chance to test the set-up prior to the trip (thanks to pea soup vis in Monterey). Considering all this, I'm pretty happy with what I shot towards the end of the trip.
