Hello all,

I used to dive when I was about 7-10 years old. After a hiatus of 15 years I'm finally able to get back into it. I'm in classes now and planning to get nitrox cert too.

I want to thank everyone on the boards for the wealth of information available. I made my major equip purchase today and am excited about using it for the first time. I'll be going on a live-aboard in the Caymans for a week :)

Thanks,
Mike

Welcome to SB SCUBAPITA! Let us know how it goes in the Caymans. Happy diving!

Hey Mike welcome to SB and back to diving. Love to buy new equipment all the time, sometimes to much, darn internet.

Diving when you were 7 huh? Like to hear those stories. :11: I believe you, just bet there's some good tales in there.

PM me if I can help you find your way around the Matrix...

Well, for starters I was a tiny lad, and they didnt have a BC in my size so I just used a back plate. Old school for you :)

You know what amazed me the most about my equipment buying experience was the quality and skills of the sales people. Knowledgeable about every question I could think up. And very patient. (as it should be) If car salesmen where this could ford and GM never would have had a slump.

A big thumbs up to the people at Houston Scuba Academy.

I'll bet! I hope it was your dad who arranged for you to dive, who dived with you, and was an expert Instructor. Wow. Love to hear more, maximums depths, any affect on a young body, etc...?

Well, that's the way it should be with life support equipment, but unfortunately - not always so. Glad you had good service.

Acctually it was my Mom, through a family friend who was a dive master. Never got deeper than 50 foot. It had a huge effect on my body though, my face was stuck in a smiling position :).
