I roll my wet suit like a sleeping bag. In the hotel room I usually drap my wetsuit over the shower curtin rod in the hotel room. I have a regulator bag which I use for my reg and dive computer and I carry that on. I don't check-in those items.

silly question, but do you fold the arms in a cross over way and roll it in as well?
I fold the arms down the front of the suit - in the position they'd be in if you were wearing it and clasped your hands together in front of you with your arms straight down.
Then roll it around something.

Glad I read this post, i'm new to diving and never thought about the ramifications of leaving my wet suit rolled up.

Thanks!

I leave the arms out, roll the suit, then fold the arms across the roll and stuff the lower end of one sleeve inside the other to hold the roll together.

How many people pack their regulator/computer and how many carry it on the plane?

newbie here...just got my first wetsuit and i was browsing about the creases/dents on neoprene and the concerns for this on the wetsuit...so how would you go about packing a wetsuit for travel? i doubt everyone brings them on hangers ;)
I roll mine, but not around other things. I roll it as you would a sleeping bag. Less chance of creases that way. Once the crease are there, enjoy them, they are there for the life of the wetsuit.

Mine, a Henderson Hyperstretch, has been stuffed in duffle bags, dive bags and back packs. I bought it 4 years ago and have used it in pools, fresh and salt water on about 125 dives. Well used but not abused. As good as new.

Definite carry-on. A small reg bag, goes into a daypack. Waay too portable, pricey, and that's equipment I really don't want to be missing. (Mask goes carry-on, too)

As to the suit question, just wear it onboard. A great conversation starter, probably get you "special" treatment at check-in, and you know how some planes are a bit cold :)

There was a good discussion recently regarding the general topic of traveling with gear. You may find this helpful:

BTW, I always carry-on my reg and my dive computer.
