newbie here...just got my first wetsuit and i was browsing about the creases/dents on neoprene and the concerns for this on the wetsuit...so how would you go about packing a wetsuit for travel? i doubt everyone brings them on hangers ;)

Either roll it around something else and pack it in a duffel type bag, or fold it into 1/3s. The flight is usually short enough that being folded for a few hours won't cause permanent creases/dents. Just don't leave it that way when you return home because you're too tired to unpack it for a few days. ;)

ill try rolling it for the trip. if i do see some creases, do they dissapear after a dive and the drying of the suit?

I treat wetsuits as packing material and use them to protect other, more fragile items. About the worst that can happen is that you compress the suit along a tight crease and you lose a bit of insulation value along that crease. Not a big problem.

As Dive-aholic suggests, just roll it around something, avoiding tight creases.

A really tight crease that has crushed the neoprene won't really disappear after a dive, but OTOH, as you repeatedly dive, the whole suit will gradually be crushed and lose insulation value.

Do you all take your hangers along? I'm debating on this next trip since I'm not shipping, but schlepping...

No way. Mine's normally draped over my deck railing

All the places I've been to usually have a hanger in their locker to hang your stuff: regs, wetsuits, BCDs.

I also use my wetsuit to protect more fragile stuff when I'm packing for a trip. Provides a nice cushion.

keep the wetsuit rolled as briefly as possible, pack it last and unpack it first

i've packed my wetsuit (same old one; the only one i own) for four vacations
and it has no permanent creases

i don't take my hangers along (to save space). i use theirs; it's never
been an issue

I usually wrap it around my reg and gauges then place it in my carry on backpack
