Hello there, i have been diving with an sjcam action camera for many years, and was about to get their latest model from amazon, but am noticing that my old one had 4 buttons going through the case, whereas the new one (SJ11 ) has 2 touch screens and 1 button going through its U/W case.

Have all action cams gone down this route? How is a diver expected to operate this with 1 button?
thanks

Action cams have always been pretty limited in that respect due to a lack of physical controls. When I use a gopro I have it fully setup and configured in advance and set it up so I can just use the top button to power it on and off and it starts/stops recording automatically. So one button might be all you need if you only need to start/stop recordings, depending on the model.

But I feel like if you're wanting to fiddle with the camera a lot to switch between stills/video or to change settings, that's probably a sign to move from an action cam to something a bit more advanced and capable. I have no desire to even attempt to engage with action cam menus via a 1-2 button interface while underwater on that tiny screen, but that's just me.

The current GoPros have a sequence that allows you to switch between presets using just the two buttons.
