Anyone know how to open the Aquasketch to change the vellum. I'm afraid of breaking the plastic.

OK I got instructions from Aquasketch. You don't open it but wind the new vellum.

They have instructions included in the package on how to change the vellum, its pretty easy. if you lose the instructions they'll send you a pdf. I notice they've got a lot of new preprinted vellums you can order off their website, you can even design your own now depending what reference material you want to take with you on a dive ... pretty cool!

You're right. I bought mine years ago and lost the instructions. I was surprised someone knowledgeable at Aquasketch answered the phone on Saturday and gave me oral instructions as well as sending the PDF file.
Two other things: I converted mine to a bungee wrist mount, and wound some string around the plastic where the pencil inserts to keep the pencil from coming out.
