I purchased my tanks toward the end of last summer, and they came O2 cleaned. They don't need a new visual until the end of the summer this year - but will they need to be re-cleaned as part of the VIP? If not, how often do they need to be re-cleaned?

I see there was a recent thread on this. Seems to be differing thoughts on this one. Some say at the hydro, some say at the vip... What does it cost to get them cleaned? When I purchased mine, they came cleaned already - so I suspect it was built into the price...

In case anyone was wondering, when I dropped my tanks off at the LDS to be filled for this weekend he said I don't need to get them re-cleaned when they are in for their VIP...

i think i'll do it anyway at the VIP, my tanks get used a lot, and my shop does partial pressure fills...

Assuming you are talking about a tank that will be used in PP mixing, like the old axiom about ladies' hygiene, a tank doesn't get washed to get clean, it gets washed to stay clean.

Since contamination will be the result of number of fills, not time, and since a single really bad fill could contaminate it, any calender recommendation is going to be a very crude approximation. Five years, though, would be too long, So the industry standard is yearly, and that makes as much sense as anything.

If one was using Grade E air or any dubious air for PP mixing, or making more than average use of the tanks, it would make sense to do it even more often.
