Mine is also used with up to 100% O2 as a decompression regulator/cylinder on some dives. As a result its used a lot so yearly.
If using it as a redundant air source its a good idea to breathe from it a bit EVERY dive and give it a good workout every few dives to check its all OK anyway.

No option for don't dive with a pony!

Sure there is, just don't vote! :D

Hmm... what a novel idea! I guess I can stop campaigning for the "I'm not eligible to vote" option on the US presidential ballot. Well, more time to dive, then. :D

Now, if anyone wants to note the lack of any option more than once a year, that would be a valid apparently unanticipated position.

I used one reg as my pony reg for five years, then had it O2 cleaned for service as a deco reg this JAN. But, whether I used it only once in a year (even though I carried it a lot more often) or multiple times in a year, I still had it serviced annually.

Like all my regs, I tend to service them every other year. I buy pretty reliable stuff and so far have only had one reg develop significant problems (it was serviced immediately), although it was still functioning when it needed to.
