Since you rarely use it, how often do you feel they need to be serviced? Do you take a feel breath from them at depth to check, or do you do more to check on their safety?

OOPs, this should probably be moved to the basic scuba section, oh well.

Abracadabra!!! poof!!!

I don't own a pony, but I service my regs about once a year. One of the regs only sees the pool and a handful of dives each year, but I service it anyway so it doesn't get lonely.

guys its meant to be there as a backup, service it yearly or you can't count on it, just like anything else

Thread moved to Basic Scuba. Do you prefer it in the Regulators Forum?

I think every year would be a good idea. But, I would use it every few dives. Maybe switch it with your primary for a dive once in a while???

Nah, I never view any of the sub-forums anyhow. Once you bought a regulator, why would you view the Reg forum??

As CheekyMonkey said, if it's a back-up the diver counts on, then i think it should get serviced according to manufacturer's recommendations (annually for my Oceanic pony reg). The rules for maintaining the primary reg should apply to the pony reg as well, even if one doesn't use it at all, IMHO.
Dive safely.
