Greetings. I just got PADI OW certified, and they tell you that you should get refresher training if you don't dive more frequently than once in six months (PADI people, correct me if I'm wrong).

yes but what do they REQUIRE???

Once you have your C-Card that’s it, you don’t need to dive to stay current, however if you don’t dive for some time say 6 months to a year I would recommend a one day refresher course.
It consists of about half a day theory a confined water dive and 2 open water dives. Tiss may vary from Agency to Agency or shop to shop

operations will ask to look in your log book to verify that you have got recent diving experience as well...

Maybe that's because The "date of last dive" I list on the wiaver form is never more than 2 months in the past, and often just days in the past.

Has anyone ever had a dive op ask to see a logbook?

I just went on a three-day liveaboard to the Channel Isl., and all they wanted was the number on the card and the cert. date. I didn't have my logbook (I keep it on the computer.) and they didn't ask/care.

They had no clue of any recent dive experience, and didn't ask.

My 14 yr old is a Jr. OW, and they didn't ask about him either.

I actually welcome their attitude about divers being responsible for themselves.

No. And I'd probably tell them where to go if they did.
