hey everyone

just wondering how much weight youd all recommend with a 5mm full suit with hood. NO SCUBA GEAR. just for freediving and spearfishing in la jolla california. just came from the tropics and not familiar with heavy exposure suits and being weighted well. would like to be as neutral as possible, maybe even a little negative. i am 5'9 and about 170lbs. thanks.

My 7mm took 12 pounds so i would guess between 8 and 10 .

I have 5mm wetsuit, I took 6lb, I am 5'7

With my 5/4 Bare Velocity and 3mm hooded vest I skin-dive with 16 pounds in the ocean and it's a nice combination of surface floataion and ease of getting down. I wore the same without the vest so I suppose I could probably go to 18 without problems. The suit is an XL, I'm 5-9 , 205 for perspective.

Hit the cove up and do a weight check , its not a very far walk from the car ditch the unneeded weights on the beach till you have what you need . BTW bring a snorkle and check out the Leopard sharks down there , its easier to get closer to them than on scuba.

BTW. the same "bobbing plumb at eye level with an average breath" buoyancy measure as used by some for scuba works well for my skin-diving use.
