I dive with a cannister on my right side, about 3 pounds for that, steel tank and stainless steel backplate. I have a weight pocket on my left side of my waist belt with 3 pounds in it. I dive a 7mm farmer john with full hood and gloves. I am in fresh 42 degree F water regularly. This setup works well for me. I know that if for some reason I needed to dump weight, the 3 pounds in my weight pocket will be sufficient to make my bouyant enough to get me to the surface easily. Not that I can imagine a situation where I would ever want to surface that fast.

thanks for the input. I am leaning towards that kind of set-up. I was also considering the second pocket for the right side for when the Light canister is not needed.

I have both pockets too. Just use the one on the left now since I got my HID light. I always dive with it. I like to keep my configuration the same as much as possible. Besides, around here, it's almost a must anyway. :D

Do you wear the weight belt under the harness or on top of it? In other words do you put on the BP/W first or do you put on the weight belt first?

Thanks!

weight belt on first, then bp/wing
