RecTecBecky:
The difference in price is location, much like everything else. I can go to the movies here in North Carolina for $7 (I think) for a Friday night show. In New York City, it's what? $12? Gas here is $2.19/gallon. In Florida, where I just drove home from it was 2.60/gallon in one spot. The price variance you see in reg servicing is the same.

Leisure pro charges 39.99 for all stages plus free parts assuming you bought from them. They are in NYC.

I learned to do my own work and only replace what is bad. My regs cost a couple of bucks for things like a HP spool o-rings or a exhaust valve that may need replacing. Take care of your gear, keep water out of the first stage. Dive cheap. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Just inspect it.

We charge about $60 for the three stages...we don't give the old parts back due to some mfg require old to get new as well as the liability of giving someone parts. A good rebuild takes about 45 min plus, for me anyway, this includes testing, checkouts are free...while I am a fan of the if it's not broke school it's smarter to get it rebuilt to keep your free parts intact, which can be a PITA for the dive shop owner parts wise by the way..And for those of you who say I only dove it 3 or four times why should I get it serviced, those are the ones that need it the most as many, not all "take a set" meaning the seats can get a fixed groove and then act up when you use it..So this gives you a reason to dive more. "Honey I've got to go diving don't want my reg going bad"
