$45 is a great price for a 1st and 2nd stage and an alternate like the air 2. It is an assumption that the rest of your gear is Scubapro since you have and air 2. Look at your warranty paperwork that came with it. Scubapro requires you to have your gear serviced every year to keep the warranty in effect. They also provide all of the parts for you for free.
You must think of your gear as life support equipment, because it is just that. $45 is a very minimal expense to ensure that your gear is tuned correctly, and in good working order.

I have scubapro and I have decided to not use the guy that I bought it from so my understanding is that the free parts stuff does not apply. Anyways I do not think that I would save that much in free parts over the years to justify paying for the service every 12 months.
SP says you have to get the reg serviced annually to keep the free parts thing going (or pay to reinstate it.) But you can take it to any SP dealer and get free parts, doesn't have to be where you bought it, just make sure you have the warranty card. Heck, the shop I bought mine from went out of business years ago. I've used 4 different shops for service since then.

geez, 45 ! where do you live, I'll ship my regs to you.

I pay 110 for 1st, 2nd, octo and pressure gauge. My LDS breaks it out that way, that also includes free parts for reg since Mares does that. I am not sure thats average around here (Fort lauderdale area). Can anyone recommend a good LDS for service in the area ?

It is only $55 dollars here in Miami, you should check it out.

From what my understanding is (please correct me if I am wrong) is that the tech will disassemble and clean the regulators for the quoted price. If the parts are found damaged after the disassembly then you need to pay for the new parts (unless still under warranty). So the price can vary depending on what needs to be done. I just had my Beuchat serviced and the price was $ 55 labor and $45 for the parts plus tax. The tech rebuilt the first stage and changed both diaphrams.

OK you asked for it:D a little correction then.

We do take your reg apart and clean it BUT we also have to change
some if not all small parts inside (o-rings/HP seats/ LP seats, and such) depending on brands. And not only damaged parts,so you always pay for parts and labor.
Extra costs will then be bend hoses, diaphrams(hardly ever)SPG swiffels and anything else you can mess up with.:D

And then we bill you:rofl3:

here in anchorage, alaska it's about 70.00$ labor plus parts 1st, 2nd, octo, & spg. I charge a little extra if badly flooded. I see alot of that. If you want to service your own gear don't use axle grease like some of my customers have!

Could there be a difference in scope between a service for $45 and a service for $120?

No, not really. There are two different kinds of servicing. One where you inspect, clean, and tune up the reg (no parts changed and the reg isn't opened up) and one where you change all the parts. AquaLung, the brand I usually service, gets new parts every other year. The customer, provided the reg is under warranty, gets charged $45 every year. We gain a little on the no part years and lose a little on the parts years as far as the labor goes, so it works out. The reg stays in warranty and the customer never has to pay for parts.

The difference in price is location, much like everything else. I can go to the movies here in North Carolina for $7 (I think) for a Friday night show. In New York City, it's what? $12? Gas here is $2.19/gallon. In Florida, where I just drove home from it was 2.60/gallon in one spot. The price variance you see in reg servicing is the same.

I paid about $75 last time per pair. $45 is a steal considering it is good service.

We get a better deal. I never was billed for little parts such as o-rings and such. Only when there was a major parts that were changed. Although the place that serviced the Beuchats did not give me the old parts back except for one diaphram. When my Sherwoods were rebuilt the shop gave me the old parts back. I am not complaining over the price.
