What's the most number of times you have dove the same site?

Since I'm a newby and landlocked I've never dove the same site more than once. So I'm wondering have people dove the same site hundreds of times? If so, what makes you go back to that site? Do you continue to find new things at this sites, or do you just love the things you've already seen there?

We just finished a week in Bonaire at divi and dove the calabash reef from the resort dock twice a day.
Since we do macro we never really spent much time duplicating our tracks

Well since theres only 2 places to actually dive that are close and in driving range we dive them quite frequently. Usually we alternate places each week over the summer. The one pond you can cover the whole place on one tank and the other its pretty big so its not that bad. We just gotta make due with the limited resources we got. Theres always something different to see though.

Are you asking on trips or in general. Landlocked does not mean you can't dive. Is there a lake or quarry near you? If so dive the dang thing. Local is where you work on skills and develop technique. Local is where those of us who don't have unlimited funds spend a great deal of time.

I try to vary sites as much as possible, whether here around Halifax, or down South on vacation. The only site I go to over & over is the Atlantic right out our basement door--and mostly all winter as I dive 7 mil wet in 33+ temps. The basement door, fortunately, is pretty close to shore.....

I'm just talking in general.

The closest dive site to me that I'm aware of at this time is 5 hours away. Quite a hike, and no day trip so it's still going to cost me a bit of money in gas/hotel/etc...but believe me I plan to be there a lot this May-October, but that's all the more time I'll get out of a year there. In the winter next year I plan to visit warmer places.

30 dives on the Eagle, 16 on the Speigle Grove, 12 each on the Duane and Bibb. All off of either Largo, Tavernier or Islamorada and all in the last four years.

I've easily got between 200 and 300 dives at my local site since I moved here in 2004. Why? Well, it's five minutes from my house, there's always interesting things to see, and the interesting things keep changing. The past few days there's been a porpoise hanging around just off the dock. They don't often come this far south in the Sound. Haven't yet seen it underwater yet, but I'm hoping ... :D

Lately I've been keeping an eye on this cute little couple ... I know they've got eggs in that pipe, and I'm hoping to be present when the kids are born ...

While I am currently blessed to live in Hawaii, we have one local site that I have almost half of my certifed dives at. Well okay, maybe not quite one half, but better than a third. For the first few months of 2010, we did that site every weekend because it was the only place we knew.

It doesn't matter much whether your local dive hole is a lake, mud pit, or beautiful reef in tropical waters (okay...maybe it does) but the important thing to me is to keep diving. Being comfortable and proficient in the water is the only way those dive vacations will really be spectacular, otherwise you're cold and overweighted and blowing through your tank in 15 minutes.

And as odd as it may sound, places with (relatively) crappier diving tend to have a diving scene that focuses on proficiency and fun in the water, whereas divers with more...convenient diving aren't always as proficient and nice to be around. :dontknow:

So in short: get it where you can, and when it's vacation time the practice you did in 10' viz will really pay off and help you enjoy the 150' viz.

Peace,
Greg
