I'm a Fish!
IF I was to get each or most of the major fin manufactuers to supply demo fins for a major EXPO at the Blue Heron Bridge Marine Park, for YOU to come and TRY the fins you are interested in, how many of you would attend.
This would not be hard to create...This could help put an end to our incessant bickering about this fin versus that fin...now you could really see for yourself...Just like with Skis at a major ski slope ( where MANY people would NEVER consider buying skis without trying them first!)
This is something needed in scuba, but it would take a big group of attendees, to make it worthwhile for the fin manufactuers.
I would get Force E and Pura Vida Dive shops to act as the administrators of the expo event, with their people at the beach at the Bridge for the entire event.
Just imagine....You could test Apollo fins against Force Fins..You could try the fancy Pro Force fins versus the classics, or try TwinJets versus classic Jet fins.

You could get in the water early for the big current of the tidal change ( 2 hours prior to high tide) and see about control in the current, or swimming sideways to it, or beating it if needed.

You could try composite freedive fins versus whatever you want.

Obviously, I would be covering this in the South Florida Dive Journal, but I would also invite Walt Stearns ( Undersea Journal) and some of the writers for Scubadiving Magazine....people I know that I think would like to cover this event. :-)

If you guys want this to happen, all that really would have to happen would be a big posting response in favor of this. The rest is easy.:D

sadly I live across the world... sounds like a great idea though!

Great idea. It would help cut through the hype. Also its so personal, and has so much to do with the anatomy of an individual ... so this would really be a great opportunity, as with Mike, I too live on the otherside of the world.

I might :)

It sounds great. I'd like to try something new, besides my clunky ol Jet Fins.
