Uncle Pug once bubbled...

I love it when folks can talk to the mirror and work things out.
I learnt that from you Pug. I've seen you do that yourself on occasion...LOL!!:out:

Most stores around us (being the DC/Baltimore) only carry the DR flavor of interchangeable wing systems. OMS starts to become prevalent when you move further north. From past research, the DR TPII is generally the cream of the crop at the store and runs much more than the Aqualung or Seaquest (which are fine for the purpose). So even more sticker shock. Ever notice that most TPII owners (in the area) are "affiliated" with the store?

But hey, almost 50% of the folks you dive with at Millbrook use BP/Wing.

By the way, why is the poll closed?

Anyway, I dive a back inflated BC, with just over 60# of lift in it. I went with back inflated after reading all about it in (where else?)scubaboard.

For the time being, it is more than enough for my needs and can probably accomodate some tech experience as well.

Nevertheless, if I will get more seroius with my diving in the future, going into doubles for example, I am positive that a different configuration will be required. At that time I will have to seriously look into the BP+Wing setup.

I am aware that there is a strong technical/DIR inclination to this board or at least to some of the threads. This here, is my humble REC opinion.

You're right Ken -- of course I met everyone there through this board! :D

Before meeting you all at Millbrook I had never even seen anyone with a BP/wing before.

Ditto

I would also be interested to read posts from the 16 so far who voted "BOTH" as to when and why they use a particular configuration.

Bill

I dive both. but as some here will point out, i am a funny one.

I preffer to use a backplate with doubles, and i preffer to dive with doubles.

i use a standard bcd when teaching padi courses, or doing a shallow reef dive etc.

I have decided next time i travel i will get a single tank adapter for my bp/wing set up.

in my personal opinion bp/wings are overkill for simple shallow reef diving.

Can you explain what you mean by this? It's such a simple setup-the basics. I would think you would call it "underkill" if anything. You've got the backplate and harness. The only additional piece you need is the smaller wing and STA. Got to be much cheaper than any BCD.

Just curious.

BP and Harness although I'm having to use by old setup until a part I need comes in.
