You have to be careful Air does spoil. It will smell like rotten eggs after a while ....

Not sure if you were kidding or not, but the "rotten eggs" smell is from sulphur. Unless there was a sulphur containing compound in the tank in the first place, there won't be after days, months or even years of being left alone. It would have had to come from somewhere.
