I was just wondering what the average time was for regulator turnaround for annual service. My LDS is usually 7-10days sometimes sooner.

Is this "average" or should the turnaround be quicker?

Mine is about 24 hours turn around, sometimes longer, but they can even do it while I wait sometimes.

I would think it's like any good service professional. Promiising works a week out lets them plan some of their time and keep time open for emergency walk-ins. If you need something urgently it can't hurt to ask. If it's annual servicing then get it done off season , if you have such a season. Some techs will be more in demand than others and the seasonal swing will make a difference too.

I usually say a week but I usually get them done sooner. It really depends on how much work I have waiting. Sometimes I get them done same day, sometimes it takes me 5.

There is a place locally that takes that long but that is because they don't do the work in-house. They send all service work out and the guy who does the transport only makes the rounds to pick up and drop off one day a week. There is no way I'd take my geat to a place like that.

Most local shops that I know of will say "a couple days".

I dive frequently enough that if it took 7 days I'd be missing some dives unless I got a loanr from someone.

Around here it depends on what time of year it is. Given many divers are seasonal, bringing your regs in can take 6 or more weeks around April, May, June. It really doesn't matter what shop, they are all busy.

One week to one month, depending upon the time of year. Faster service is available at an additional charge.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd be suspicious of a shop that could routinely promise service overnight or while I wait - don't they have anything else to be doing?

My shop offers a minimum of ten day service guaranteed, but you can pay extra to get two day or 24 hour service.

As to the fact that they don't have anything else to do. Nope, mine is a service shop within the dive shop and a seperate company. They do nothing but inspect and fix equipment, and fill up tanks.

The LDS I visit the most will have the regs ready tobe used in less than a week at max. Most of the time if there aren't tanks that are backed up and you go in the middle of the week you can get it while you shop for new gear. My girlfriend went in with her gear, the owner said a week. I went back the next day to get something that he had on sale and he wanted to know if I was wanting the regs the instant I walked in the door.
