Thinking of buying my first set of tanks. Considering I will not want to run to the LDS in the morning before i dive I will be filling up well in advance. If i fill up and happen not to dive for a period of time I am wondering how long is too long to leave a tank full? i.e. corrosion of air and/or tank durability

thank you

.....until you open the valve and let the air out....

you should always leave at least some air pressure in a tank in order to keep moisture out. Never leave a tank empty.

Some will say don't leave them at full pressure when stored long term, but I doubt you'll find any cases of that causing a problem (not including AL6351T problems, but that was due to the tank problems and SLC , not the pressure).

remember that your tank is hydro'd at 5/3rd's its working pressure. so a 3000psi AL80 is hydro'd at 5000psi. If it's not going to blow at 5000psi, then it's not going to when stored full at 3000psi either.

Air doesn't go bad.

Never? really?

so i should probably buy like 5000 tanks and store them up for when our ozone collapses. My plan of being the last person on the planet is coming to fuition

Don’t be silly. That will only provide air for about 1.5 years for a single person with a SAC of 0.5 CFM and only staying on the surface.

Seriously, I bought a tank that was not used in more than 40 years. I analyzed the air in it for O2 and it was fine. I should have dived it, but it wasn’t full.
