Titan LX is a workhorse. It is probably the best selling regulator set at the dive shop I am helping out with.

For cold water, you can get the "supreme" version.

Mine has been great. It's been under the ice, deep in Lake Michigan and this last week two dives in 33 degree water. Never a free flow. Breathes nice.

Of the 2 models you refer to, the one with the "snowflake" is the Titan LX Supreme. The difference in them is the environmental kit and a mouthpiece lip guard that has been added to the regular. Oh.. and the snowflake, which is just purely cosmetic but makes it easier for your dive shop employee to tell the difference. The intermediate pressure is set slightly different on the Supreme also. Otherwise it's the exact same regulator besides those parts.

If you have the regular Titan LX, you can make it a supreme with the enviro kit and mouthpiece.

The Legend LX Supreme is also the same difference, but it doesn't have an enviromental sealing kit since it's already sealed. It's only cosmetic differences and lower factory set Intermediate pressures on 2nd stage.

The mouthpiece lip guard is kinda nice though. I really liked it diving in colder water.

i liekd the reg after i jst got it and finally got to put it to the test a 100 times better then the rental regs i liked it alot.. the lip gard is very nice as if you are in cold watter it keeps them nice and warm you have to set the lip peice to were you will like it on the reg i found the defalut postion award but when i moved it. it was alot more conterbale and warm. when i switched to my snorkle i was freezeing comapered to my reg..

I tried out both the Titan and the LX in a pool, as a try before I buy kinda thing. I went with the Titan, not seeing / feeling the $50 difference between the LX and the base.

I rented gear for about 100 dives (at least regs, bc) and I got to use a wide selection. I rented a Titan LX for a dive trip from my local shop, and loved it - one of the easiest breathing regs I've used... keep in mind, I said my experience was rental stuff before ya flame me <grin>. I went to buy one and my cost-conscious fiance' found a deal on craigslist where we got both of us regs, bc's and a really nice bag for about the price of one Titan LX... so, sadly I have a Tusa Imprex, which turns out to be a really nice regulator - but not the Titan that I want! It IS the reg I will buy when I do actually purchase a new one.

Does Titan series have the same internal and service kit as Apeks?

What is the weight of first stage? Is it much lighter than Apeks ATX?

I bought the Aqualung Titan for my first regulator. I think it was a great choice b/c it's a real workhorse and its also the one that my LDS rents so I have a reliable source of parts for it and also someone who is familiar with the mechanics of it nearby.
