Hi,

Does anyone has good or bad experiences with the Suunto Vyper, how good is it?
Want to get my first DC around this budget, and able to use for rec & tech diving......

My initial is a Mosquito, but heard too many "Bad" experiences with it from users.
So far nothing bad on Vyper...........

Hope your comments will help in my selection for a DC.

Thanks, Best Regards.

I have one and I think it is great. It handles air or nitrox and you can also use it in guage mode as a bottom timer. It is not a tech computer though as you can not use it for planned deco.(although it does handle 'accidental deco' if you overshoot an NDL)
Suunto uses a fairly conservative RGBM modeling. Some people like that - others don't.

I agree with Kim, I too love mine. To be honest, it really is a conservative computer, but if my options were between conservative and a bend-o-matic, I'd stay with my Vyper.

My first Computer was the Cobra. It was fine (still is). Then I also had a Mosquito. I didn't like that at all. Now I also have a Vyper. It works great for NDL diving (Air or Nitrox) and is great as a bottom timer for my tec Diving. I could have saved myself a lot of $ if I had started with the Vyper!!

I agree with everybody , i own a vyper and 3 other divers in my club also, its a nice piece of kit and easy to use.

Thanks all of you, who reply to this thread and those remarks given.

Welcome more comments.........:10:

Its great to hear others view and opinion.

Cheers.

My story is similar. Started with the Cobra, while it's functions are similar to the Vyper I didn't like the console approach. Bought a Vyper and have had really good luck with it to date.

Why push the limits if it's going to get you bent? I can't think of one good reason..... Vyper works good and will serve you well.

I also started with the Cobra, but after trying it out IRL I decided the console computer, etc. was going to be too "dangle-y" for me. YMMV

What I've now gone to is the VyTec without the wireless AI transmitter, it has a few extra features over the Vyper including two "RGBM" modes and gas switching. If you don't need any of that and aren't interested the possibility of the wireless AI at some future point, the Vyper would be the Suunto to have IMO.

So far all the good comments are on the Vyper, no wonder over here in Singapore, many fellow divers are selling their mossie, one or two sales every now and then.

But nobody is selling their Vytec or Vyper, i think they are too good to be sold away.........

Cheers.

Have a Vyper and Vytec, like them both. Also have a Mosquito and a Stinger, their biggest drawback for me is their size - difficult to see underwater sometimes. No other issues.
