How to clean the "back" side of a shield on Suunto Vyper?

I've got this DC with a quite turbid shield, that is much more transparent in water however. So I assumed that the previous owner did not rinse it well, and there is a thin salt layer on the back side of the shield.

I used an ear cleaning stick to wipe as much as I could reach, as on the photo:

And yes, this worked! The area that I was able to reach is much more transparent now:

But I could only reach so far...

Soaking in warm water does not help much, so I'm looking for a harmless way to wipe the shield. I didn't try to remove the shield because I've read in another topic here that the tabs are easy to break.

Any suggestions?

It just snaps on and off. Just pop it off and clean it, then snap it right back on.
Thank you, that really was not so hard as I expected. Much better now.
