Is there any trick how to check if there is a boat in the Salt Pier before one commits to drive there
or do you just go and have a plan B (and what would that be?)
Thank you.

There are several alternative shore dives that you can see on the way down to the Salt Pier. Wind sock is one we like. Have lunch at Ocean Oasis beach club or at one of the excellent food trucks. The "Lion Fish" truck is one of our favorites, and not just for the lion fish sandwich. You can also do a sight seeing drive beyond Salt Pier to see donkeys, the salt pylon markers and huts, flamingos, etc.

Just get out and tell them to move it...

Plenty of good options just north of SP up to Angel City. Or south if more adventurous.

Googling "Bonaire salt pier ship schedule" brings up a link to the Marine Traffic website, where you can see Bonaire port traffic and whether there's a ship there in real time. Doesn't look like there is now.
