A couple questions for you seasoned u/w shooters.

Do you find that you end up changing from your "regular" lens to a WAL often during a dive. It seems as if I'm not taking much macro them I would just leave the wide angle on and use it throughout the dive.

#2.....a WAL is a good size piece of glass. My BC only has one pocket that it might fit into and that one folds out and hangs (probably not the best place to keep it from banging on close objects). Has anyone found a good way to carry one. ( A padded pouch, etc.)

Thanks in advance for your thoughts

I leave it on and forget about it......

Dee did a thread awhile ago that showed the macro ability of the WAL ...... just use the zoom and macro features of the camera through the WAL.....Its hard enough to get a “good” shot and not have the subject swim or crawl away……then compound it by taking lens on and off

Just my thoughts :)

Thanks Scott,

I figured that was the easiest and most effect thing to do.

15, 14, 13, 12, 11 still counting down the days

Leave it on while in Manihi .... aka....."The Circus"....To make sure you get the whole manta and nothing but the manta in the picture......Yee haw!!!!!

I got into the habit of changing lenses with my first camera, an MX-10, and it's really not a hassle at all. You just need a secure place for the lens when you remove it.

As Finesse mentioned, I'm really impressed with the versatility of the WAL but for true macro shots, you'll want to remove it.

I find that if I try and change lenses underwater my camera gets wet, and undoing the housing is very fiddly!

I duno what kind of lens you have on the Olympus, but I used a 24-50mm lens on EVERY single dive I did in FP. Gave me the opportunity to do some wide angle and also closer work with smaller fish. Macro forget about - I am sure Scott will agree with me that the macro opportunites are pretty poor.

Didjer get my email with the large attachment?!

Hi Jim,

Got the one from the 14th. Looks like we're ready to go. Thanks for the help.

Over there, FP that is, I think you're better suited to leave it on......You'll see  .... at times ....SENSORY OVERLOAD!!! deleted many premature shots!!!!! Then on the flip side several that I couldn’t snap off fast enough!!!!! #$%*@#Shutter lag!!!!

I , for the life of me, could not get a shot of these guys......the blues and purples really fluoresced in the strobe…well at least the parts that I was able to photograph!!!.....Scuba did you get any shots of them????

The other thing was that at times it was difficult to wait out photo ops as you are usually diving with a group......and the dive masters keep you all together..... I was usually in the back of the pack and would find something interesting to play with (Groupers, Morays you get the idea) ... you would take a few shots....look up ..... Hey… where did everyone go????.....Jim remembers this on Bora Bora @ Tapu....."Hey... get over here!!!!":D :D
