Just read all the exchange about Cancun and the people there. Granted it's a lot like Lauderdale but the folks in New Orleans can take a page from the Mexicans book on Hurricane recovery. Dove Coz in March and Puerto Aventuras last week. Coz was hit by Emily and Wilma which made Rita look like a summer breeze. Those folks down there get it and instesd of sitting around *****ing about the govenment not giving them everything, they've rolled up their sleeves and are working around the clock to get everything back together. Truly an example to follow!!!

Cancun is fantastic, albeit not for the diving, if only because of the superiority of its island neigbor, Cozumel.
But the water is as clear as you'll find anywhere outside of an Evian bottle. The sand is great. And the nightlife is awesome.
Cozumel itself is only a hop, skip, and a jump away (a bus ride, shared van ride, and a ferry to be exact).
I always do the Cozumel-Cancun two step. Hit Cozumel first for the great diving. Then decompress with some fun in the sun and fabulous nightlife in Cancun on the back end of the trip.
