I recently bought my first camera, a Sealife Reefmaster film camera with an external flash. At the end of a dive I clip the camera to a D-ring on my waist. My problem is that the camera is positively buoyant and floats either in front of me or under my arm and gets tangled in my hoses. I'm planning on buying a weight accessory that makes it negatively buoyant. Do you have any suggestions for how I can secure my camera while I'm not using it? Has anyone made a harness for a camera that would secure it to your thigh or tank? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I use one of these....

Make that three of us... though mine's green

I just keep hold of mine, simple.

Thanks for the help. I'm going to get one of those quick release coils. But what I had in mind was some kind of holster for a camera that would keep it securely in place and not allow it to float around at all.

Use two - one on each side so the camera sits against your chest/tummy like a reverse backpack. I used to secure my video camera that way and can't see why it wouldn't work for any camera. Unclips easily at the surface to hand up, but is totally out of the way on ascent, even if you need to deploy a safety sausage...

I find the right hand tool is groovy for holding cameras while I use my left hand for dumping air from my pull dump. Haven't found another better use for the right hand tool on ascent so I figured I'd employ it. :D

I use this ascent time to let the feeling come back into my hand and release the cramps from carrying and shooting in my right hand the whole dive!!
