93 feet with Herman on this board.

Purpose to see garden eels (at Alice in Wonderland) in Bonaire.

Would not dive this deep without a specific dive plan for a specific reason.

110 feet. Wreck dive in the REd Sea and also a Wreck in the Adriatic. Also same depth in a quarry for training purposes.

If you planned the dive and you are diving the plan, what does the depth matter?

I mentally keep two "sets" of records. One for escorted dives (which don't have as much weight in my mind) and one for "buddy" dives. So, even though I have 23 "logged" dives, I only have 6 "buddy" or "real" dives under my belt.

My deepest dive with just a buddy is 50' here in Monterey at the Metridium Fields at BW.

94' for escorted. Went to Tahiti and Moorea right after getting my cert. A lot of the dives were deep. I "hovered" about 15 - 20' above them in the beginning, then started going deeper and deeper as I felt comfortable (did a dozen dives there). I was really at 89, had a couple of feet below me, swam down then went back up to about 85. Guess you'd call it a "mini bounce". It was an escorted dive with a NAUI instructor.

Diving to 50' in Monterey is much scarier than doing 100' in the tropics in a group of experienced divers with 100' vis...

It all depends on what's down there. That's my motivation: either a great view, something interesting or a deep wreck, a wall, etc.

Here in South Florida, there are a lot of wrecks into about the 250 foot range.

146 feet. As part of my decompression class. 20 minutes bottom time, 57 minute total running time. Doubles, with 2 decompression gasses.

Frankly the reef was kind of boring, but I can appreciate that there are interesting things to see and do at this depth and deeper.

For normal recreational dives I have been to 130 feet and then gradually up a few times while diving a wall.

Mike,
Good reason to go that deep. Great photos!!!

Problem is finding a reason to go back up!!!!
Those are awesome pictures.
Did you do this as a decompression dive? What was your bottom time? Whatever it was, I bet you wanted MORE!!!!

104', thats where the wreck happened to be ;)

Hey guys, thanks for the comments on the photos. Yea the dive was planned. I actually did it 4 times in about a weeks time. During a 3 month period, Dec thru Feb. the Eagle Rays mate at Tiputa pass and this brings in the hammers. The drill is basically to drift into the mouth of the pass at about 100 feet, constantly looking down to find the Eagles. When you find them...dive quickly! Once down at the bottom, anywhere from 165 to 185 you have only about 8 mins on air. Hopefully you can get close enough to the sharks or eagles to get some shots. I did get closer to the Hammer one time but my stupid camera decided it didn't want to work. Aaaarghhhh!!!As the time ticks down you have to swim over to the wall and make your way back up. Usually about a 30 minute total dive cuz it takes a while to get back up.
However, i wouldn't recommend it to non experienced people. Myself and my dive buddy both have over 3000 dives...
