Thanks you all. So it seems the hotel is not so bad as long as you be careful of what you eat and bring some books to kill time! As for the airport - don't use the bathroom and pray your flight doesn't cancel ;) Just don't stay there for more than you need to catch your next flight out I guess.

One more question - how do you get from airport to hotel if you are doing this on your own (we may get in the night before the boat come pick us up). Are there cabs readily available? What's reasonable cab fare? Do they try to scam tourists?

The Je Meridian is right across the street from the airport! You could actually walk there wheeling your luggage if you had to.( but then you are taking the chance of getting creamed by a car!) It takes about 1 minute to get to the hotel. A taxi should be really cheap!

but you would lose a gallon of sweat between the airport and hotel. :-) And save your prayers for something you could expect to happen cause the plane will be "late". As long as its the way home, who cares, diving is done and you're in bliss.

Any fare is going to be a drop in the trip bucket. Check out the water buffalo in front of the airport.

Ha Ha! Well said and very true!!!

How far is mambaramo hotel from the airport ?
Are there any other good accommodations to stay at reasonable prices, as I will be on budget ?

Every male in the waiting room is a chain smoker, and proud of it!.

And despite brutal heat and no AC each is wearing clothes that would keep a well driller in the Yukon warm in Feb.

No matter how late your plane is, how many hours you spend in the waiting room, you seriously do not want to use the bathrooms there!

Amen, HD. The women in our group, who were extremely widely-traveled and pretty intrepid, absolutely refused.
