House of Refuge - Stuart, Fl?

Some folks told me about a shore dive site in Stuart, Fl known as "House of Refuge". it is supposed to be a well protected wreck site with abundent sea life and generally good viz.
Anyone know some details on it? I'm thinking of heading down there to dive either the 7th or the 13th or 14th of August.

This is one of the shallow wrecks on the FL UW Archeology Trail. It is close to shore, and is a bit scattered. Some ribs and odds & ends if I remember correctly. It has an interesting history, and if I weren't so lame and affected by CRS, I'd be able to provide some of it. But the H of R has display materials.

The Georges Valentine wreck is cool to do if you have never done it. The main wreck sits in 20' of water about 100-150 yards offshore- its like a huge dug-out canoe turned up on its side and come off the bottom by about 15'. Visibility is directly dependent on weather/wind conditions- It usually takes about a week of light winds for the water to clear up. You’ll be able to see the wreck from shore as a dark, splotchy pattern when the water is clear. I have a pamphlet about the history and location at the Shop, Ill try to scan it into an image file tomorrow
