Hi! My name is Sheryl Périer and I took dive lessons back in '97 or '98 at Austin Aquasports, from a gentleman who I believe was named Mark, though I am not sure. The shop was owned by Glenn McFarland, who would likely know who taught the class based on the description I will provide. My house has since burned down and I lost all record of my dive certification. I have spoken to Naui and they have no record of me. They told me to double check that my classes were not PADI, which I have done, and who also has no record of me. Naui also said that if I had the name of the instructor, they might be able to find record of me. I'm sure the instructor would remember me. He was especially proud of me because I overcame my claustrophobia and succeeded in passing the class. He was also kind enough to go down to the Comal to do the second check out dive for me because I had been given a suit that would have fit a starving Ethiopian and which caused me to get sick (the fish didn't mind ;-)) on the first day of the check out dive. I wasn't fully recuperated the next day for the scheduled second part.
He was extremely kind and I was and still am, appreciative. At that time, he was probably in his late thirties to mid forties, not very thin (though not obese), and he spoke like an engineer. ;-) Does that ring any bells? Does anyone know how to reach Glenn McFarland?
Thanks so much for any help you can provide.

This guy lists that he was an instructor there in 2007 . . . maybe he can give you some info?

I did actually reach the previous owner of the shop and he was very helpful, managing to locate my file, and the Naui number of my instructor via which Naui was able to locate me. (They had incorrectly spelled my name.) Thanks for your suggestions. A new card is in the mail. Now, I just need to enroll in a refresher course.
Best wishes to all.
