I am leading a trip to Cozumel and we are staying at a new place... The Hotel Cozumel. Has anyone stayed there?

There is a separate forum for Cozumel under Mexico. You will doubtless get more responses there. We have stayed there many times, if you are referring to the Hotel Cozumel & Resort south of San Miguel. It's decent(clean rooms, nice beach club, good big pool, it's own dive pier) and the price is right for us. The food is just OK though. Depends on what you are looking for. It's not a 5 star resort by any means.

Sorry. I thought that was where I was posting. Thanks.

I think Marcus summed it all up regarding Hotel Cozumel. I will add just one thing...it's a short walk into town which is nice.

I think the taxi is around $20 to $30.

We've stayed there twice, last time was in December. It's not too bad, it's cheap and close to town. Nice pool area, biggest on the island I believe. Lunch at the restaurant near the dive shop isn't too bad. The main restaurant food gets old, not a ton of choices but it's an easy walk to town or a cheap cab ride. The bathroom is a little odd with a high tub/shower that you have to step up into and I don't like the limestone type tile in the bath area which looks really outdated. The door to the room is old and has a gap at the bottom so you can hear a little noise in the hallway but it didn't keep us up. I do like the patio which has a couple places to hang your wet gear or suits. The beds and general room isn't too bad. They have a safe with a (key on a chain) in the closet and I would recommend putting all your wallets and valuables in there even at night. One of my husbands credit card numbers was used to purchase two phone cards on Skype, he had stupidly left his wallet under some clothes in one of our suitcases. We don't know for sure that it happened at the hotel but he hadn't used that card for anything during the trip. They have made a lot of improvements to the dive shop/ "beach area" and there are several entry points now for their shore dive which is shallow but surprisingly we saw a ton of stuff at night. They have a lot of boats and if there is a big group diving, you may get moved around on different boats through the week. We ask for a specific divemaster that we love at Dive Paradise and they are pretty accommodating.

What is the taxi fare from the airport?
Maybe $7-10 each for van, depending on exchange rate. After clearing Customs and barging thru the hoard of time share hawks, right turn, down a few feet on the left, there will be a window selling tickets.

Going back, you can use a real taxi for less. Establish price before boarding, but I think it was like $10 for two back.

Thanks, We have stayed at Reef Club in the past and this sounds like a similar place. As long as the diving is good and the Beer is cold, I can live with the rest. Any restaurant recommendations in town?

Wet Wendy's

Pepe's

And speaking from experience, in addition to cold beer, Hotel Coz can provide a very nice Mojito :D
