I have a home near the Corpus Christi Church (behind Chedraui store) and my Cablemas Service (cable) sucks most of the time. i'll probably switch to DSL and pay whatever it costs for faster service…if I can.Dave DillehayAldora Divers
There is a profeco complaint in the works. Talk to Adrian and sign on!

When I visit and stay in Corpus Christi I have the same problem with Cablemas often failing, sometimes resetting the router brings it back sometimes not. Last month I switch to T Mobile because they advertised 'unlimited everything' and then included the US, Canada & Mexico as a common coverage area. About 3 weekends back I came down for a quick trip and found the service worked very well on the island. They piggyback off the TelCel towers and I had 4G coverage wherever I went in town. When Cablemas crashed I could tether my lablet to my phone. Last week I got my first bill and there really wasn't any extra data charges.

I've stayed at Villa Blanca once and Hotel Cozumel three or so times. I do prefer Hotel Cozumel for proximity to town, size of rooms, and the pool. Wifi worked fine, but I haven't stayed there in a couple years. I used Dive Paradise and have no complaints. They aren't a boutique operation by any means, but for the price, I thought the service and convenience (and options of afternoon diving!) were good.

I will add Casa Mexicana to the conversation if you are looking for good wifi. We stayed on an upper room there a year ago, and the wifi was excellent. Breakfast is included and is excellent and substantial. When I price things out, it is more expensive than the others mentioned, but not excessively so. The one downside is the pool - it's like a wading pool in an odd spot pretty much in the lobby.

Ditto on Casa Mexicana and diving with Aldora, just around the corner, pier just down the street. Easy & Good!

I heard of people bailing on cable and getting cellular data hotspots for internet. Telcel must be stepping up the data throughput.

I was roaming with my phone and 4g hotspot while I was in coz and was on the Telcel network. I was not impressed, maybe they throttled me because I was roaming?

Thanks to the thread and all your suggestions, we're now deciding between VillaBlanca and Casa Mexicana while diving with Tres Pelicanos. I've got quotes on both hotels from TP and they're within $50 for the package. I like the idea of being in town and Casa Mexicana is a newer place. But I also like the laid back pool and gardens of Villa Blanca, and what will be a later dock pickup in the morning, leaving time to get breakfast. If only all of life's decisions were so inconsequential! :)

We felt like we had plenty of time to get breakfast at Casa Mexicana (whose breakfast is awesome) without having to wake up all that early. I guess it depends how early you think early is though. The walk to the TP office is super short from there.

That's good to know. What time did the boat leave? I don't mind getting up early, just want a little time to digest breakfast which sounds like it opens at 7am.

They asked us to be at the office by 7:40 to get into the truck to drive to the marina. The boat left when we all got to the marina :) We usually hit breakfast very close to 7 a.m. and were always early to the shop, which gave us time to chat.
