Yeah i've heard of this, didn't think it would actually totally bend ya, but knew it isn't the smartest thing to do if you have a dodgy ascent.

I needed a good laugh!
Youre killing me!!!

Walter:
I learned it when I started diving and I teach it as a risk factor for DCS in my classes.
I learned it as well when I started diving and I was taught it was a rsik factor after a dive.

You can get clean without taking a hot shower. If you keep the temp at body temp or less, it shouldn't cause any problems. A hot shower is not all that close to body temperature.

Hello

I work as a dmt (dive medic Tech and CHT.)in the past few yrs ive seen a patient that straight from a night dive Three dive day series had a hot shower.
on leaving shower he shouted at his wife to stop spraying him with shower.
Unfourtunatly the sensation he was feeling was not water on his shoulders but parastesia (tingling and numbness) which responded to o2 and treatment he did also devlop other symptoms.

Was this due to the hot shower? theoreticaly a hot shower will cause the blood vessels in the skin to open due to stimilation therefore if nitrogen loading is high it can cause dcs.

this guy had been diving resonably heavy and was also dehydrated did the shower alone cause the bend it certanly aggrivated or accelarated the skin bend.Other symptoms that developed probably where most likely due to surface any way.

Hope this helps
all the best

In the winter we dive in a Harbour that still to this day dumps raw sewage from two large cities in it. After subjecting ourselves to water temps that range from 27-29 deg Fahrenheit we head home and the first thing I do is jump into a HOT shower. One of my dive buddies however will not. He will wait at least 12 hours before he showers. My wife would have none of that. He has been bent diving once before and doesn't wish to repeat it so he is very precautious. I however have not had a problem up to this point and will probably continue my routine. I only heard about this last year when my dive buddy called me after the dive and I was in the shower. Since then I've turned the temp down some.

GotAir:
some say that it is writin down in some dive training books but that was news to me.

GotAir

I believe Gilliam wrote about it or mentioned it in his book, "Deep Diving".
