How often are you guys replacing your hoses? At first signs of wear or after a specified number of dives, etc? Just curious

When worn or signs of damage I will change out broken for new. I also change as a need for different dive circumstances.
see you topside! John

Hose assemblies are amazingly durable, but mot likely fail at the end connections. Bend the end of the hose near the connection and look for cracking in the rubber or even exposed fiber. It's the fiber wrap that gives the hose its's strenght; the out casing is just there to protect the wrap from external damage. If nothing like that is noted there, you are good to go! Pretty unlikely that a hose will fail along it's length unless you do something prettty stressful to it.

As an example, our training reg's are used as often as five nights a week, year round, and our hoses typically are five years or older on most of them.

Plus I'm guessin' MIFLEX ones will last substantially longer than the conventional ones, which already seem to last a long time.

To be honest that is not our experience; the Miflex outer material is much more susceptible to abrasion than a solid rubber jacket. So while you gain flexibility and lose weight, you also sacrifice ruggedness.

Now ya tell me! :) after I've converted a bunch of regs to MIFLEX over this winter. (still have all the old hoses though, so if i HAD to I could deconvert them) Interesting though, as MIFLEX is 2X - 3X the price of conventional hoses, and the MIFLEX marketing touts their superiority over the old hose technology, including durability.

I am just reporting it as we see it here, I have Miflex hoses on a number of my own rigs and I see the abrasion and fiber separation. They are more flexible, so you can be more abusive when coiling them up, but dragging them across rough stuff, rocks, sharp edges in wrecks, etc. does not do well by them.

They are pretty though!

No sweat, I appreciate the honest assessment. MIFLEX is a lot easier to squeeze into a reg bag though, especially when trying to stuff 2 complete regs/computer set ups into a single reg bag, and yes, they're purdy !
