Ohhh and she leaves near me!! :eyebrow:

We need a really good tech instructor to answer some of the questions and speculations about argon.
Why do we need a tech instructor?
A chemist would be a better edumacator on the properties of argon.

Just remember, argon belongs in your drysuit, not in your lungs.:)

Someone distill the question for me? I don't feel like reading 17 pages of thread. Besides, I would be willing to bet someone's already answered it.

You are right, it was answered. :)

Michael

Argon is an inert noble gas that you can be used as a diluent with oxygen to make a breathable but highly narcotic (with pressure) mix.

OK, here goes ...

1) Is it economically feasible to inflate your wing from your argon bottle rather than from your helium-mix back-gas?

2) Is it DIR to do so?

3) Is it hazardous to breathe argon from your wing?

4) Is it DIR to do so?

5) What warnings do you normally give to tech students about breathing argon?

Thanks Chickdiver.

1) No. Argon costs more than He.
2) DIW.
3) It's stupid to breathe from your wing period (really a last resort). Breathing argon under pressure is also stupid (very narcotic).
4) DIW.
5) Don't do it.

Edit: CD can answer on her on, but I suspect her answers will look something like mine.

The there's the whole question of is argon in fact any better than air? Or is the whole thing a scam? Especially if you dive horizontal!
