Hooded vest: which part is the thick part?

I have a Henderson 7/5 hooded vest and, honestly, I cannot detect the difference in thickness between vest and hood. Is it rated like a wetsuit in that the core is the first # (7mm) and the hood is the second # (5mm) ???

Usually, the hood is thicker than the core.

Thanks. Just one of those dumb little details that (1) don't really matter, but (2) I should really know.

I own the same Henderson 7/5 hooded vest. The hood is 7 and the vest is 5.
