Hello everyone, we are a couple that are relatively new to diving. We are based in Hong Kong and have about 30 dives each. Our last trip was to Mabul and Sipadan which was absolutely amazing. We also hiked the Mount Kinabalu but due to bad weather we didn't reach the summit.

We are taking another vacation on September 28 to October 7 this year. We are thinking of diving in Fiji and hoping for a similar diversified experience as Malaysia. Our priorities are to see the soft coral, mantas, and try at least one shark dive. We will need gear rental. We are a bit nervous about the cooler weather since we're so used to warm weather here in Hong Kong, and September/October looks like the shoulder season.

We want to try two locations even though our trip is rather short. Therefore one or even both of the destinations should be located near the airport. We are also interested in other activities other than just diving. We would like some short hiking, kayaking, animal watching, etc.

After searching the board we may want to try Lalati Resort and/or Wananavu. Our budget is around US$4,000 to 5,000 not including airfare. We certainly don't mind roughing it but we don't mind paying for a good value.

Any recommendations for a 2 part stay? And any activities other than just diving? Very interested to hear your opinions. Thanks in advance!

Hi THERE,

I figured I could help you with my input. My husband, and I are heading to Lalati this Sunday, and wow we cannot wait. I am sure you will find different opinions from everyone. I did a lot of research on both resorts. Everything depends on what you really want. I personally loved Lalati better because is more secluded. The most that the resort holds is 10 couples, and I love that. From the booking process to any iquries I have had they have been really fast on their replies. You could find some reviews on Tripadvisor, and you will narrow your answer.

I will do a report when I come back, and if you have not booked the resort by then, it might be helpful.

Good Luck!
