Hello all,
My wife 2b and I are looking for some place to going the islands for are honeymoon. Were looking for clear blue water and white sandy beaches. I want to take on a few dive trips and so would she however nether of us have had any dives where there could be shark's. She is terrified and I am ok letting them have the whole ocean to them selfs and let me stay in the pond. Besides I am freaking out about what I would do if I saw one.

Anyways does anyone have any good ideas of places to go down there all inclusive resorts would be great where we can dive take in the sites however the liklyhood of seeing a shark is like next to "0"

Thanks

Jellyfish Lake...but they say there might be crocodiles.

I dived for a long time in the Caribbean before I ever saw a shark.

I did not think the Virgins were very sharky....

Seriously, you should do a shark dive and then you will never be paranoid again. It will cure you and you can move on to the next thing.

I'd say not Hawaii, although diving a wreck makes you feel less vulnerable for some reason.

You could muck dive in Bali in about 30 ft, close to shore, groups of divers all over, that would get your odds down pretty good I'd say. (Tulamben) Check Scuba Seraya, very romantic and lots of macro (which wasn't our favorite pelagic action type of diving but it was still beautiful)
Super easy.

Many destinations will have sharky dives and unsharky dives.

Cozumel - drift diving is fun and easy and the only shark you MIGHT see would be a nurse shark that would turn and run away from you.

Shark attacking people is over-rated. I got bite by a seal in my right arm and my hand. You'll never see seals the same way as I did. ;)

With a few exceptions, pretty much any where you go the chances of seeing a shark are very low. As long as you avoid shark dives, actuall seeing one is fairly rare. Honestly, sharks have no interest in divers and you need come to terms with your fear. There are sharks in all saltwater...and some in fresh. What to do if you see one.....either ignore it or watch it in wonder....which is most likely what you will do.
Damelfish are what you should be scared of....them little suckers bite.

Try Roatan/Utila. On our trip there a month ago, we didn't see a single shark, even though we were doing 5 dives per day. It was enough that we remarked on it halfway through the trip, kept a lookout for one, and still didn't see any.

All the best, James

Didn't you say you were going on your honeymoon? I thought the only time a married couple encountered "sharks" was when they were at the stage of divorce (with apologies to my lawyer friends).
