Incredible dive today at Honeymoon Cove.
Dropped down in front of the far outer kelp bed: 240 out, 120 parallel, 30 to shore
Visibility was easily 20ft and over that in spots. We intended to dive Long Point today but surge and swell was up. Christmas Tree didn't look too good either, but Honeymoon was surprisingly nice. We've dove Honeymoon before, but this time we found some really interesting reef structure. A huge variety of life out today. Early on in the dive a huge Leopard Shark approached us. It was the largest I've seen, guessing 5ft long. Lots of confrontational rockfish today as well. As I was trying to get a shot of a brittle star, a kelp rockfish kept swimming up to my mask and staring me down. Also a lot of ugly mugs out today "Cabazon". One didn't like Charlie and I, so he decided to spray some excrement on us. I was looking down adjusting my camera at the time, only to look up into a nasty cloud. At first I thought it was an octopus spray, but Charlie later explained that it came out of the Cabazon. On the way in we saw a sleeping Horn Shark. Very enjoyable dive and mighty warm. It was 68 at the surface and 64 at 40ft!
